At Ghost Source, we respect and are committed to preserving the privacy of our users. The following privacy statement discloses what information is collected on our site and how it is used.

Information Collection and Use
Ghost Source is the sole owner of all information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in any way that is different from what is disclosed in this statement.

Ghost Source collects information from our users at several different points on our website:

Newsletter
In order to receive news and updates from Ghost Source, users are required to submit their names and e-mail address. This information is used to contact the user about the news and events on our site for which they have expressed interest.

When joining the mailing list, we also collect optional demographic information such as the user’s age, city, and state. This demographic information is used to help us get a better idea of who is using our web site so that we can make more effective additions and improvement to our site. This demographic information is strictly optional and is not required to join our mailing list.

True Encounters Archive
When a user adds a story to our True Encounters Archive, we ask identifying information such as their name, location, entity type, and story. This information is made public when a user searches the database.

We also collect the gender of those who are submitting the stories and the users age at the time of the occurrence. This information is specifically used by our database to structure the grammar of the story. For example, if a user’s gender is male, the database will use the pronoun "his" in structuring its grammar. This information is not used for any other purpose.

Original Stories Collection
When a user adds a story to our original stories collection, we ask identifying information such as name, location, entity type, and story. This information is made public when a user searches the database.

We also collect the age and gender of those who are submitting the stories. This information is specifically used by our database to structure the grammar of the story. For example, if a user’s gender is male, the database will use the pronoun "his" in structuring its grammar. This information is not used for any other purpose.

When submitting a story, we sometimes allow users to enter their e-mail address. This is optional and will only be used to enter the user in any contests that are currently being held. Entering your e-mail address in the Original Stories Collection will not subscribe you to our mailing list. Your e-mail address will not be made public when a user accesses your story. After entering your e-mail address, you will only be contacted by us if you have won a contest.

Expert Locator
The sole purpose of our Expert Locator is to allow users to find paranormal experts or organizations in their area. Therefore, when a user adds their information to our Expert Locator, all information will be made public.

If you have added your information and would like to change or update it, this can easily be done by finding your organization in our Expert Locator, clicking on your organization’s name, and then clicking the "update" button that will appear immediately after your information.

Message Board
Our message boards are a public forum. All information posted is made public. Please keep this in mind and use caution when including any personal information.

Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Sharing
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

We partner with Microsoft’s ListBuilder to provide our Newsletter Service. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. ListBuilder is not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that Ghost Source is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.

Surveys & Contests
From time-to-time our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.

Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.

Correction/Updating Personal Information
If a user has joined our newsletter and wishes to update or change their information, they can do so at by contacting: support@ghostsource.com

If a user has submitted their e-mail address for a contest and would like to change that e-mail address, they can change it by sending their new or corrected e-mail address, along with their Story ID number to: editor@ghostsource.com. (note, if you do not know your Story ID number, you can find it by locating your story. The Story ID will appear at the top).

Choice/Opt-out
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter may opt-out of receiving these communications by replying with unsubscribe in the subject line in the email or by emailing us at support@ghostsource.com.

Users of our site are always notified when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as to whether they should proceed with services that require an outside party, or not.

After entering a story into our True Encounters Archive or Original Stories Collection, the story can no longer be removed. However, the user is given many chances to either edit their story or opt out from submitting their story into our database. Once a user presses the "accept" button, the information that they have entered into our database can no longer be changed. After this point, stories cannot be removed.

Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post a notice prominently on our homepage.
